Sacrifice is a dark experimental short film drama, centred around two young women hovering between self-destruction and survival.
As the film unfolds, it tells as many stories as it has viewers, creating a personal, sensuous cinematic journey that touches on themes like grief, loneliness and desolation, mental illness, altruism and empathy.
The film will be released to festivals in February 2020.
Magdalena Herfurtner is a German producer, writer, and musician, resident in London.
She is currently in development and production of several feature and short films, amongst them the short drama Sacrifice (2020).
Magdalena has been trained as actress and classical singer at Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich. In 2015, she relocated to London where she took screenwriting classes at Central Film School.
That same year, she became Quarter-Finalist of the Shore Scripts Screenwriting Competition with her feature film script Walking on the Flatline.
She co-produced the multi-award-winning short film The Power of One Coin (2018), line-produced Sergei Alexander's feature debut Beneath Desire (2019) and recently has released several ambient EPs as Madil Hardis.
Mathias Falcone is an up and coming film director with a decade of photography and production experience in fiction and commercial productions, spanning short and long-form content.
Following a creative background developed over the still image across several photographic domains, he expanded his sphere of competence into production and developed several films from script through to festival release, whilst driving the filming of branded content and online promos. He has led projects in Britain, France and Italy, managed crews up to 30 members and budgets up to £50,000.
He made his directorial debut in 2018 with the short film Your Eyes Know Better, shortly followed by Insider (2018), Trinette (2019), and Sacrifice (2020).
His visual and narrative universe unravels around the dynamics of individuals’ microcosm forced to face an ambiguous and contradictory reality in order to fill their life with meaning and clarity.
Nicci Brighten is a multi-award-winning British stage and screen actress, voice artist and producer based in London and LA.
She has a creative and academic background in fine art, photography and film studies combined with classical and contemporary drama training from Guildford School of Acting, Italia Conti Academy and RADA in London, as well as the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York.
Nicci currently has several films on the festival circuit. So far, her productions have achieved 60+ wins, nominations and official selections globally, among them Oscar-qualifying Sitges Film Festival, BAFTA-recognised Aesthetica Short Film Festival and the Méliès d'Argent Short Film Competition for A Doll Distorted (2018).
NHS70 film Nora (2018) premiered at the London BFI IMAX in August 2018 as part of TEDxNHS and recently won various Awards of Excellence at Southern Shorts Festival 2019 in Atlanta, GA.

Magdalena is a German vocalist and performer with over 15 years of stage and studio experience in Germany and the UK.
She recently starred in the experimental short film Sacrifice (2020).
Magdalena trained at the College for Music and Theater and has been part of various theatre productions including Die schöne Lau at Isny Opera Festival and Der Kaiser von Atlantis at Gasteig Munich, both in 2007.
From 2009 to 2013, she has worked as the lead-vocalist and band manager of the German Gothic band Eycromon. The group released two studio albums - Awake from the Sleepers (2011) and Repressure (2013), and Magdalena produced and starred in several of their music videos.
In 2015, Magdalena relocated to London and is now working as a freelance producer, writer, actress, and composer.
Carla is an Irish actress based in London. She is a recent graduate of Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.
In Dublin she was among the first actors to start up the Actors Studio in Bow Street Academy, training under renowned acting coach Gerry Grennell and working with directors such as Jim Sheridan and Kirsten Sheridan.
She has worked on both stage and screen from Shakespeare to Tenessee Williams to new writing from emerging talent. Screen work which has taken her from the 18th century through the 60's, 70's to present day and psychological horrors to comedy includes King of the Travellers, Love and Friendship, The Girls, Getting There and Look Closer.
Daisy Hanna is an 11 year old dancer, singer and actress from Surrey, represented by Mad Fish Management.
Daisy has been training with the British Theatre Academy since she was 6 years old and has performed in many musical theatre productions, including three in London’s West End (Annie Jr at the Arts Theatre (2015) and The Secret Garden (2016) and The Adventures of Pinocchio (2017) at the Ambassadors Theatre). She has also performed in Goodnight Mister Tom at Southwark Playhouse (2018), in professional pantomimes produced by Qdos entertainment and other musical productions.
Daisy has a passion for dance. She trains at Julie Sianne Theatre Arts and Ballet Boost Associates London, studying RAD ballet, ISTD tap, ISTD modern, jazz and contemporary dance and she competes in the All England Dance national dance competition.
Daisy studies musical theatre at Surrey Singing School and also takes weekly lessons in singing, LAMDA, pop vocals, music theory, piano, acoustic and bass guitar.
