ABOUT

Magdalena Herfurtner is a German filmmaker, musician, artist and performer resident in London.

A classical music education and a passion for film, music, and painting have formed her as an artist over the last fifteen years and led her to diverse experiences in the world of art, such as being the lead singer of a German Gothic band or writing and producing short and feature films in the UK.

Magdalena has been classically trained as an actress and singer. She studied Vocal Performance with Sylvia Greenberg and Wolfgang Brendel at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich and was part of the CD production of Missa Katharina by Jacob de Haan with the Bavarian Broadcasting in 2007 as the solo soprano.

From 2009 to 2013, she co-founded the independent music label Sintuned Records and worked as the lead-vocalist and band manager of the German Gothic band Eycromon. They released two studio albums - Awake from the Sleepers (2011) and Repressure (2013), and she produced/co-directed several of their music videos.

In 2015, she relocated to London where she took screenwriting classes at Central Film School. That same year, she became Quarter-Finalist of the Shore Scripts Screenwriting Competition with her feature film script Walking on the Flatline.

She co-produced the multi-award-winning short film The Power of One Coin (2018), line-produced Sergei Alexander's feature debut Your Eyes on Me (2019) and recently has released several EPs and singles as Madil Hardis.

She is currently in development and production of several feature and short films, amongst them the short dramas Trinette (2019) and Sacrifice (2020).

"It is every artist's privilege and challenge to find strength in their inherent vulnerability, to seek beauty in sorrow and inspiration in hardship. Armed with empathy and awareness, they share their story with the world - until, in the midst of it all, they will discover their true self as part of this wonderful universe."
